RIMT: A tool for Regional Ionospheric Mapping and Tomography using GPS data
The ionosphere is about 60-1000 km above the earth’s surface, which is actually plasma of ionized gas of the upper atmosphere by solar radiation and high-energy particles from the Sun. The ionized electrons concentrations change with height above earth’s surface, location, time of the day, season, and amount of solar activity. The total electron content (TEC) and electron density profiles are t...
متن کاملA fuzzy logic technique for correcting climatological ionospheric models
This paper reports on a fuzzy logic correction technique for the IRI90 climatological ionospheric model that uses a sparse set of GPS total electron content (TEC) measurements to provide a significant model correction over the entire sub-solar equatorial bulge. Crisp inputs, represented by a sparse set of GPS measurements of ionospheric TEC, are ingested into the fuzzy correction model which is...
متن کاملMonitoring the TEC variation using pattern matching method during earthquakes as determined from ground based TEC measurement and satellite data
Total electron content (TEC) data, obtained from GPS satellites can be used as a tool for extracting earthquake precursor. In this paper, a pattern matching technique is used for monitoring TEC variation during and prior to the earthquake. For the experiment two major earthquake events i.e. Bhutan earthquake on 21st September 2009 and Nepal earthquake on 25th April 2015 are considered for analy...
متن کاملIranian Permanent GPS Network Receivers Differential Code Biases Estimation Using Global Ionospheric Maps
Measurements of the dual frequency Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers can be used to calculate the electron density and the total electron content (TEC) of the ionosphere layer of the Earth atmosphere. TEC is a key parameter for investigating the ongoing spatial and temporal physical process of the ionosphere. For accurate estimation of TEC from GPS measurements, GPS satellites and GPS r...
متن کاملIncorporating WAAS Data Into an Ionospheric Model for Correcting Satellite Radar Observations
The GPS Real-Time Ionospheric Monitoring System (GRIMS) has been operational at the Millstone Hill radar in Massachusetts since 1991 and at the FPS-85 radar in Florida since 1994. GRIMS employs GPS derived estimates of the total electron content (TEC) to provide real-time ionospheric corrections to radar measurements, incorporating data from a single receiver to generate TEC estimates for the e...
